It wasn’t the best of starts today – a little cloudy and gray, but we heard reports of whales out in the San Juan Islands, so we knew it’d be a good day. Since it looked like we would cross paths with the Orcas in the afternoon, we made an earlier-than-normal 2 hour stop in Friday Harbor, giving us the whole afternoon to look at whales. As luck would have it, the early morning clouds burned off, giving way to beautiful clear, sunny skies and lots and lots of whales (primarily K-pod). There were so many whales we had difficulty making our way back home, since we need to maintain a safe distance from them. All-in-all, an outstanding day in the San Juans!
