Glass Calm and A Double Header

To say that it was calm today would be an understatement, as smooth as glass, it made whale watching with local resident orca whales quite the treat. Today the L-12 subgroup put on an exciting show, with a few of the whales slapping their tails on the surface and some of the younger calves breaching. And to add a little bit of icing to the cake, on the way in to a sunny Friday Harbor we got a few great looks at two Minke whales. Guests who were out on deck even got the opportunity to experience why these baleen whales get the nickname “stinky minke”. Just another beautiful day in the smooth as silk waters of the San Juan’s aboard the Victoria Star 2.
