Orca whales are back in abundance now! This past weekend we had sightings of all 3 pods of resident Orca whales – so great to have them all in the area once again. Today we spent time with K-Pod just south of Lopez Island, then found a Minke whale a little later. Overall a great… Continue reading Whales & Wildlife Report – August 12th, 2013

Bird Watching Cruise Report – July 27, 2013
We left the harbor on another wonderful summer day. We cruised to Chuckanut Bay to observe the nesting Pigeon Guillemots and the Glaucous-winged gulls. The Glaucous-winged gulls have chicks that are a ball of fluffy grey. Â Glaucous-winged gulls are the only gulls that stay here year round and nest here. The other gulls that we… Continue reading Bird Watching Cruise Report – July 27, 2013
Whales & Wildlife Report – August 3rd, 2013
We had a great time watching Minke Whales today in several locations, as well as seals, eagles and a rare sighting of a Tufted Puffin. Orca whales were out of range for us today, but with lots of sun and abundant wildlife, it was a great day in the San Juans.

Yet another amazing day out in the San Juan Islands. We had a great time viewing Orca Whales (the L-22 group) out near Pile Pt. on the west side of San Juan Island. Blue skies, sun and whales – doesn’t get much better!
Bird Watching Cruise Report – July 13, 2013
One of the most interesting sightings of this cruise was this Common Murre spotted near Colville Island, just south of Lopez Island. Unlike most Common Murres that we encounter, this one was adorned with a lengthy antenna – if it hadn’t been swimming and moving about, one could easily mistake it for a remote-controlled toy! … Continue reading Bird Watching Cruise Report – July 13, 2013
Whales & Wildlife Report – July 13th, 2013
Another perfect day in the San Juans – we had a nice Orca Whale viewing near Eagle Pt on the west side of San Juan Island. It was L-Pod today, with several whales spotted. Lots of sun and not much in the way of wind to report – doesn’t get much better!
Whales & Wildlife Report – July 8th & 9th, 2013
Two more great days of whale watching in the San Juan Islands. Sunday we saw our L-22 friends just west of San Juan Island, then today we found a larger group from L-pod – about 10 Orca whales up by Battleship Island. With plenty of whales and plenty of sun in the forecast, we hope… Continue reading Whales & Wildlife Report – July 8th & 9th, 2013
