Bird Watching Cruise Report – July 20, 2013
Our bird cruise is getting birdier! As eggs hatch and juveniles fledge, the populations of our typical Salish Sea breeding birds are soaring. Glacuous-winged Gull chicks, for example, are now numerous at several of the sites we visit – the Glaucous-winged Gull is the only gull that breeds in our area (although several other Gull species are also… Continue reading Bird Watching Cruise Report – July 20, 2013

Yet another amazing day out in the San Juan Islands. We had a great time viewing Orca Whales (the L-22 group) out near Pile Pt. on the west side of San Juan Island. Blue skies, sun and whales – doesn’t get much better!
Bird Watching Cruise Report – July 13, 2013

Whales & Wildlife Report – July 8th & 9th, 2013
Two more great days of whale watching in the San Juan Islands. Sunday we saw our L-22 friends just west of San Juan Island, then today we found a larger group from L-pod – about 10 Orca whales up by Battleship Island. With plenty of whales and plenty of sun in the forecast, we hope… Continue reading Whales & Wildlife Report – July 8th & 9th, 2013
Sucia Island Picnic Cruise – July 7, 2013
Thirty-five people joined us on our first Sunday Picnic Cruise to Sucia Island yesterday. Â It was tons of fun – we arrived at 10:45 with sunny blue skies and flat water after first observing the harbor seals and bald eagles on Puffin Island. Arriving at low tide, crew/naturalist Victoria took the children and some of… Continue reading Sucia Island Picnic Cruise – July 7, 2013
Whales & Wildlife Report – July 6th & 7th, 2013
Our captain said it’s been like Groundhog Day out there, with sightings of the L-22 resident group of Orca Whales, as well as Minke Whales, in the same location both days this weekend. With sunny skies and lots of whales seen, it was a great weekend in the San Juan Islands.

Another beautiful, sunny day in the San Juan Islands! Today we found the L-22 group of resident Orca whales, just off the west side of San Juan Island (near False Bay). Several whales were spotted, in a playful mood on glassy calm waters.
