Wow, it was a great day yesterday! We started off the day by finding J-pod during our San Juan Adventure cruise, out near the Canadian Gulf Islands. The weather was beautiful, with plenty of sun and temperatures up near 70. In the evening we were back out with two of our boats, one on a… Continue reading San Juan Cruises / Whales & Wildlife Report – 6/25 (Whales Everywhere!)

San Juan Cruises / Whales & Wildlife Report – 6/20
Lots of whales again today, including our first look at K-pod (one of the three resident pods of Orca whales), just off the west side of San Juan Island. We also saw a Minke whale on a day where the waters were flat calm and the sun was bright overhead. Sounds like the weather is… Continue reading San Juan Cruises / Whales & Wildlife Report – 6/20
San Juan Cruises / Whales & Wildlife Report – 6/18
Lots of whales in the San Juan Islands today! Our passengers looked beyond the initial rain and fog this morning and were greeted by a nice day out in the islands. Not much sun, but the rain stopped and the fog lifted. We made our way out west of San Juan Island and found Orca… Continue reading San Juan Cruises / Whales & Wildlife Report – 6/18
San Juan Cruises / Whales & Wildlife Report – 6/15 & 6/16
We were able to see a transient group of Orca Whales in nearly the same location two days in a row, up near Echo Bay / Sucia Island. Lots of other wildlife were seen on the cruises, and the weather has been great, especially in the afternoons after the morning clouds have burned off.
San Juan Cruises / Whales & Wildlife Report – 6/11/2011
Another great cruise today, with resident Orca whales (J-pod) viewed by our passengers SW of San Juan Island. It’s been a nice day, with clouds and fog giving way to blue skies on our return trip through the islands back to Bellingham.
San Juan Cruises / Whales & Wildlife Report – 6/10/2011
The whales were back on Friday! They were too far out of our range to reach the past few days, but on Friday our passengers witnessed an active J-pod of Orca whales jumping and spy-hopping just to the northwest of San Juan Island. We were able to spend a good amount of time with them,… Continue reading San Juan Cruises / Whales & Wildlife Report – 6/10/2011

The Victoria Star 2 is still out on our San Juan Adventure cruise today, but we just got word from our captain that they found a group of playful transient Orca whales just off Patos Island this afternoon. Check back later, when we will have photos of this group.
San Juan Islands / Whale Watching Report – 5/21/2011
It was a great day for whale watching in the San Juan Islands! We normally pick a route in the morning, on the way to Friday Harbor, that has the best chance for seeing Orca whales. Well, we did that, finding a group just off the west side of San Juan Island. After watching them… Continue reading San Juan Islands / Whale Watching Report – 5/21/2011
