Two more great days of whale watching in the San Juan Islands. Sunday we saw our L-22 friends just west of San Juan Island, then today we found a larger group from L-pod – about 10 Orca whales up by Battleship Island. With plenty of whales and plenty of sun in the forecast, we hope… Continue reading Whales & Wildlife Report – July 8th & 9th, 2013

Whales & Wildlife Report – July 5th, 2013
Another beautiful, sunny day in the San Juan Islands! Today we found the L-22 group of resident Orca whales, just off the west side of San Juan Island (near False Bay). Several whales were spotted, in a playful mood on glassy calm waters.
Whales & Wildlife Report – June 30, 2013
Under bright blue skies, sailing through calm waters, we toured through the islands before finding a group of Minke whales near Hein Bank, SW of San Juan Island. Passengers enjoyed non-stop sunshine throughout the day, and with temps in low 80’s (cooler on the water though). Looks like this beautiful weather is supposed to last… Continue reading Whales & Wildlife Report – June 30, 2013

Lots and lots of Orca whales today – all of L pod was spotted just off Kellett Bluff on San Juan Island. Lots of breaching and feeding activity, all on flat calm and sunny skies. Whales & Wildlife Report – June 12 & 13, 2013
There weren’t any Orca whales to be found on the 12th or 13th, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t whales out there. On Wednesday we found a group of 3 Minke whales out on the west side of San Juan Island. That was topped by a rare sighting (for this time of the year) of… Continue reading Whales & Wildlife Report – June 12 & 13, 2013
Whales & Wildlife Report – May 18, 2013
We were one of the first boats out in the islands yesterday, so without any early whale sightings from our spotting network, we decided to head north to the most likely place to find them. We cruised out between the San Juan and Canadian Gulf Islands, finding groups of Steller sea lions, Dall’s porpoises and… Continue reading Whales & Wildlife Report – May 18, 2013
Whales & Wildlife Report – May 12, 2013
What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than a cruise in the San Juan Islands? It may have been raining a bit in town, but the San Juans, being in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains, were dry, and we even got a bit of sunshine in the afternoon. The highlight though was the… Continue reading Whales & Wildlife Report – May 12, 2013

Although we searched and searched, we were unable to find whales. However, we did see LOTS of other wildlife, including seals, Bald eagles, Stellar sea lions and… Continue reading Whales & Wildlife Report – May 11, 2013
